Parent’s Project Closure Approaches!

It is with regret and some sadness that I need to announce that Central Advocacy Partner’s Parent’s Project is coming to an end in March 2019 and we are now no longer accepting referrals for it.

This 5-year project funded by the Big Lottery has been a huge success.  During this time, we worked alongside 225 parents.  Our ongoing monitoring and evaluation show that parents have felt more informed about professional concerns and more involved in decisions being made about their families.

We are particularly pleased about the work parents have done through the Parent’s Network to raise awareness of the challenges faced by parents with learning difficulties and disabilities.  The Network have been designing a new project that builds on the feedback we received during our consultations earlier this year and we are currently applying for funding for a new project.

However, this new project will not provide 1:1 independent advocacy, which will leave a gap in advocacy provision for this group of vulnerable people.

I would like to thank you for your support throughout this project and I will be in touch if we are successful in our funding applications,

Elizabeth Findlay
